ABOUT THE ROLE
The Umpire Coordinator – NT will be responsible for the management of all duties related to the delivery of administration, operations and umpiring program implementation across the Northern Territory. The role will be key in supporting the Umpiring Lead in the delivery of successful umpiring programs and community football competitions, as well as working with the Recruitment & Retention Lead and the whole Umpiring department.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:
- Support the umpiring program support staff in each league in selected regions
- Provide support and leadership and engage with umpires and umpire coaches in the program
- Appoint umpires, sports trainers, water carries and observers
- Coordinate the day-to-day communications with umpires, including availability
- Ensure umpires are completing all match day responsibilities including match day paperwork
- Conduct local initiatives in line with the AFL’s National Umpiring Strategy
- Coordinate and implement heat stress management strategies and processes
- Manage and lead the information systems and communication platforms the umpiring programs
- As required, administer umpire pays, accounts payable and payroll
- Coordinate, distribute and manage umpiring apparel
- Oversee the necessary equipment required in delivering an effective umpiring program
- Support delivery of shared services for umpiring programs across the Territory
- Develop and maintain databases
- Coordinate facility requirements for umpiring training programs
- Support the administration of the umpiring talent pathway program
- Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role
- Support and contribute to the success of the broader team
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
Core Competencies:
- Proficient relationship management and communication skills
- Demonstrated organisational and planning skills
- Ability and flexibility to work outside normal business hours
- Ability to travel intra and interstate as required for the role
- Tertiary qualification in one of the following: sports management, sports science, sports coaching (or equivalent) – desirable
- Experience within the sports officiating landscape – desirable
