About the Team

The Deloitte Energy and Climate Advisory team works with businesses, governments, financiers, regulators and market institutions to help them navigate uncertainty and realise opportunities as the energy and climate landscape is transitioned through new policies, technologies and business models. Our team includes engineers, economists, government and regulatory specialists, commercial and business advisers, and modellers who work collaboratively across all components of the energy and climate landscape. We aim to help our clients understand the environment in which they operate and, through data driven analysis, identify the actions they could take for better outcomes for their business, their stakeholders and the economy.

We are a diverse team with a high level of client interaction across all levels of staff, and we assist clients to make strategic choices. This is done through analytical rigour and strong industry knowledge. Some examples of projects successfully delivered include:

Advising corporations on their decarbonisation strategies, including setting of emissions reduction targets in-line with climate science and establishment of emissions abatement projects
Identifying new business opportunities for existing market players and potential new entrants
Helping governments design, and industry to, adapt to key energy and climate policies such as:
Assessing the potential size of the global market and the share of demand that Australia could capture to underpin the National Hydrogen Strategy
Authoring Australia’s first Bioenergy Roadmap, identifying those areas of the economy where bioenergy has a key role to play in decarbonisation
Climate risk, resilience and adaptation modelling, mitigation and strategy development
Developing Scope 3 strategies and implementing practical actions to decarbonise value chains
Modelling and structuring options to finance the transition of the energy sector and industry more broadly
Considering the wide-ranging implications of the electrification of the transport sector, including the development of electrification strategies for major public transport operators
Modelling the National Electricity Market in a wide range of future scenarios to inform of risks and opportunities
Evaluating potential electricity generator revenue streams using custom-made, techno-economic tools
Developing business cases for the implementation of clean technologies, such as energy efficiency measures across government building portfolios

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You have 4 to 7 years of relevant experience and exposure preferably in renewable energy, energy market, hydrogen, energy policy and energy transition strategies
A bachelor or master's degree in engineering, science, mathematics, business, economics or a related technical field
You have experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis (energy and climate analytics and modelling) to support decision-making and successfully and effectively communicating your findings to a broad spectrum of people
You have wide-ranging knowledge of the climate and energy market landscape
You have experience in leading teams to develop and deliver innovative solutions to complex problems
You are highly motivated to accelerate the transition to a low carbon economy
You bring sound analytical and commercial skills, preferably in an industry or advisory environment.

You will have a keen interest in furthering your skills or knowledge in:

Contributing to the shape and direction of the energy and climate landscape in Australia, through your thought leadership
Developing internal assets that address common issues in the market
Building your already established presence in the market and developing client relationships.
